The world’s toughest endurance rally – an extreme challenge for man and machine – has finished. The run of success enjoyed by our Russian joint venture partner KAMAZ continued in Saudi Arabia. The 42nd Dakar Rally was held in Saudi Arabia for the first time ever and saw participants tackle twelve stages, from the beaches of the Red Sea near Jeddah, across canyons, mountains and dunes, all the way to the Qiddiya entertainment megaproject near the capital city, Riyadh . This year, 234 of the 342 vehicles that entered the race reached the finishing line – including 40 trucks.
Second overall win for Andrey Karginov
Andrey Karginov won the Dakar Rally in the truck class for the second time in his career. Back in 2014, the Russian took the top spot on the podium after achieving a total of four stage victories. In 2020, he did it again – this time with a phenomenal seven stage victories.
