PALFINGER PRODUCTS – ROPE ACCESS PROFESSIONALS

For some time already we have focused on the PALFINGER product range. The loader crane, just like in PALFINGER’s history, was the starting point. We then moved over to EPSILON Timber- and Recycling Cranes as well as to Railway systems. Now we would like to introduce you to another product. In fact it is a service of PALFINGER, namely the rope access professionals.

Rope access professionals are multi-skilled technicians who can access difficult locations in different heights with the help of ropes and harnesses. Rope access is often required when conventional access methods such as hoists, scaffolding or elevated work platforms are not a viable option. The Megarme Group was founded in 1993 as the first rope access provider in the Middle East. Megarme was mostly acquired by PALFINGER in 2014 and is nowadays considered as the largest, most capable Rope Access Inspection, Repair and Maintenance supplier in the Middle East, North Africa and Caspian Region.

What characterizes rope access professionals?

Flexibility. One fundamental pillar of our PALFINGER strategy is reflected in this product unit.

Rope access professionals are highly specialized workers with different skills and therefore can be engaged in a wide range of repair and maintenance work. Especially during the maintenance in ship building, offshore production platforms, major projects in the construction sector or in refineries, the time factor plays a crucial role. Therefore, flexibility and punctual applicability of individual work teams are ideal for this kind of work.

Some services of Megarme include welding, painting and blasting, inspection, installations and maintenance on all sorts of structures. All services can be done both on ground and at height.

Working in 828 meters above the ground – no problem for rope access professionals!

Burj Khalifa is internationally known to be the tallest building in the world, being higher than 800 meters. Considering Megarme and its company’s history, it was the “biggest” project in regard to height. A team of rope access professionals installed the LED lighting on the façade of the building last year, and mounted the fireworks devices for New Year’s Eve.

Another project was the Address Hotel Downtown Dubai. Rope access professionals supported the restructuring, cleaning and safety work after the fire on New Year’s Eve in 2015.

Isn’t it dangerous to work in such heights?

Rope access methods follow stringent guidelines set out by IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association). They take information from organizations around the globe and assess incidents in order to continually improve procedures. The sheer volume of information related to new techniques and equipment allows the guidelines to evolve and stay up to date with advancements in the industry. IRATA rope access is currently the safest work at height technique.

The main industries within this product unit are: Offshore, Oil and Gas Production, Power, Marine, Shipyard, Construction and Facilities Management.

Our rope access professionals are employed in the following countries: Azerbaijan, India, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. Especially international projects show high potential for growth.
