In 2016, PALFINGER once again took part in sustainability ratings. Because they provide our investors and customers with independent analyses and evaluations, sustainability ratings are highly relevant. The evaluation relates to PALFINGER’s ecological and social activities and achievements. The degree to which we fulfill our responsibility in terms of sustainability is then analyzed accordingly. 2016 Oekom, Vönix and for the first time CDP evaluated our sustainability.

OEKOM CORPORATE RATING: B-
Oekom Research AG of Munich has been in existence since 1993. It is the only large independent rating agency for sustainability in Germany.
With a grade of B-, PALFINGER is in the “good range” and received the “Prime” status. In particular, our achievements in terms of both environmentally-relevant product measures and health and safety measures were perceived as especially positive.
Here is a brief synopsis of the most important evaluation points:
- Reduction of the energy consumption of products;
- Strategic orientation for increasing the efficiency of material usage of products and production;
- Measures related to the reuse and recycling of products; and
- Systematic integration of safety aspects in product design and development.
VÖNIX RATING: A-
VÖNIX is a sustainability benchmark for the Austrian stock market. It has been in existence since 2005. The long-term benefit of sustainable management is corroborated annually with this first national sustainability index. PALFINGER has been a member since the beginning.
In 2016 we received an A-, which represents the third best grade. Our sustainability achievements in terms of the strategic orientation and principles of sustainability management, stakeholder orientation, and business ethics were highlighted. Mention was also made of the existing environmentally-, safety-, and quality-relevant management systems. Thanks to our initiatives, activities, and successes, PALFINGER was rated as a sustainable business.
CDP RATING: B
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) was launched in 2000 as a non-profit organization and aims to publish on an annual basis the environmental data on climate-damaging greenhouse gas emissions as well as water consumption of companies. In this year – for the first time – PALFINGER transmitted data and information concerning the first topic “Climate-damaging greenhouse gas emissions” to CDP on a voluntary basis.
We received the CDP Climate Scoring result 2016 of “B” and the status as “Sector Leader DACH Region” in the category “Industrials”, whereby we are in the top 13% of the best companies in this industry and region. The assessment is based on the fact that we showed a high degree of transparency in connection to actual climate protection activities, such as objectives, reduction of emissions, measures and verification of reported data.
