Unusual terrain requires a special solution
One of these customers is the Minden Water Shipping Authorities. In September 2018, PALFINGER received the order to build a new and larger access platform on a bridge examiner. Due to the special requirements, PALFINGER proved to be the ideal partner for this unusual project.
The numerous bridges over the Mittelland Canal and the Minden waterway cross have been inspected and serviced by access platforms on ships for over 30 years. During this time, however, the inland waterway vessels were becoming larger and the bridges ever higher. These heights could no longer be achieved with standard Lifting Solutions.

Taylor-made special solution
For difficult situations under bridges, PALFINGER installed a special solution that enables a lateral reach of 16 m without any support. In order to be equipped for this, the BU2344 in the shipyard had to be modernized and strengthened from scratch. The reliable, robust and easy to control PALFINGER access platform has been in use on the waterways around Minden since mid-2019.
The next project is an even larger access platform on a “bridge examiner”, has already started. A harmonious addition to the extensive range of platforms that PALFINGER offers for demanding challenges.
