On Saturday, June 15th, it was time again this year to open the gates for families for our 16th Sports Car Event together with the local Children’s Cancer Foundation “Salzburger Kinderkrebshilfe” and many other supporters.
Our goal: to put a smile on the children’s faces.
At 9 o’clock, the Sports Car Event started at the PALFINGER Headquarters in Bergheim where a lot of action took place:
- Bouncy castle „Wabbelberg“ & touch-wall
- Climbing tower
- Face painting & soap bubbles
- Photo box
- Red Bull ice hockey
- Porsche driving school
- Virtual Reality – paintings & 3D printing
- PALFINGER access platform
- Olympic athlete Thomas Geierspichler
- Fire department Bergheim
- Police dogs
Our kitchen team took care of our well-being regarding hunger and thirst.
Another point in the program was the handover of a donation check of 25,000 euros by Hannes Palfinger, Andreas Klauser (CEO) and Felix Strohbichler (CFO) to Heide Janik, head of the Salzburg Children’s Cancer Aid. With this money new projects can be implemented and many families can be supported.
As usual, our painting competition took place where children could submit drawings which are then used for the invitation. All prizewinners were able to view animals with their prize afterwards, a pair of children’s binoculars and a family entrance to the Salzburg Zoo Hellbrunn.
During the morning, the children could choose a sports car for the upcoming joyride. After each child found a place in a car, the actual trip started punctually at 13:30.
The Sports Car ride was led by our CEO Andreas Klauser. The route went via Oberndorf and Berchtesgaden to the Salzburg Zoo Hellbrunn. After a short speech by Andreas Klauser the children visited and watched the different animals with great curiosity. In addition, animal experience stations were set up at the brown bear enclosure, zoo school, rainforest and our sponsored cheetah “Niara” where even more information about the animals was provided. After a short refreshment at the zoo restaurant, our cheetah in care and her brothers could be watched while being fed.
Unfortunately, the weather did not play along the whole time. However, the rain at the end of the trip did not take away the joy of the day, and more important we reached our goal for the day:
We managed to put a smile onto the children’s and their parents’ faces!
These smiles compensate for any efforts.
