The PALFINGER Group continued its growth in the first quarter of 2016. Revenue rose to EUR 318.8 million, setting a new record for a first-quarter result. The primary reason for this satisfactory development was the strong demand for loader cranes from European countries. The hooklift, timber and recycling crane, access platform and in particular also the railway system businesses were also highly successful.
Outside Europe, PALFINGER was able to increase revenue in North America. Business in Asia was marked by PALFINGER’s successful cooperation with SANY, but the outlook for the months to come is subdued due to a slowdown in economic growth. In South America, PALFINGER’s market volume contracted considerably, and the national currencies depreciated by around 20 per cent.
In Russia, PALFINGER succeeded in keeping the business volume at the previous year’s level thanks to local production, but the ruble also lost around 14 per cent against the euro.
The present level of incoming orders gives reason to expect further positive developments in the second quarter of 2016
