. The new organizational structure – GLOBAL PALFINGER ORGANIZATION (GPO) – is our compelling response to the technological and logistical challenges of a global market. As part of this, we are focusing on far-reaching interconnectivity in the interests of our customers with the aim of creating synergies and making processes simpler, more flexible and more efficient.

In an increasingly complex world, it is crucial for service-orientated organizations to keep things simple when it comes to customer-related processes. After all, this is really the only way to ensure that organizations can respond quickly, flexibly and efficiently to local needs and circumstances. Whether in product development, order processes or support, the new GLOBAL PALFINGER ORGANIZATION (GPO) is a means of implementing the objective of putting global connections into practice in such a way that customers all over the world perceive real added value at a local level.

That is what Andreas Klauser, CEO of PALFINGER AG, means when, in this context, he talks about ‘effective, well-organised, interdepartmental collaboration and less complexity’. This is a view echoed by Gerhard Sturm of the Sales & Service global function at PALFINGER AG: ‘The GPO puts our customers front and centre. Standardised, state-of-the-art tools like the product configurator will help us to automate and accelerate processes, improve our competitiveness and save money.

Customers constitute a key aspect of the new GPO. One of the main emphases of implementation is ensuring that focusing on services and interacting with customers in a way that addresses their specific needs are made integral parts of day-to-day processes. This is about not only the broad-based optimisation and standardisation of processes, but also ensuring that customer needs and experiences are reflected in all processes right through to product development.

Andreas Hille of the Product Line Management global function at PALFINGER AG, underlines this aspect: ‘One of the biggest changes associated with the GPO is the shift from local business units to global product lines and the transformation of the local research and development organisation into a global Centre of Excellence structure. This new structure enables us to define products for the global market and develop them so that they are optimised for manufacturing within our global PALFINGER production network as well as to utilise synergies across all product lines. This will make us more efficient in product development and allow us to reduce structural costs, time to market and production costs at the same time.
