The World Environmental Day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year and is the United Nation’s principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment.
PALFINGER took action
This year Madal Palfinger S.A. in Brazil focused their efforts on plastic, especially raised awareness on plastic cups.
Did you know…
… that there is such a thing as plastic pollution?
… that plastic pollution can afflict land, waterways and oceans?
… that 1,1 to 8,8 million metric tons of plastic waste enters the ocean each year?
… that about 380 million tons of plastic is produced worldwide each year?
… that some researchers suggest that by 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in the oceans by weight?
… that plastic is found in our drinking water?
… that small amounts of plastic is found in our bodies?
Plastic pollution is a problem not just for animals in the ocean but also for humans. It is important that we reduce plastic in our daily life NOW.
- Bring your own bag to the supermarket instead of buying plastic bags
- Reuse plastic
- Buy food that is not packed in plastic
- Renounce liquid soap
- Use bar soap instead of shower gel and shampoo
- Drink tap water (if possible) instead of buying water bottles
- Buy natural fiber instead of synthetic fiber
- Use REUSEABLE CUPS instead of plastic cups
Did you know…
… that plastic cups take about 200 to 400 years to decompose in nature?
… that three liters of water are expended to make a plastic cup and only 300 ml to wash it?
Madal Palfinger delivered reusable mugs made of coconut fiber to all its employees in Brazil. By using this washable mugs a lot of plastic cups can be reduced and therefore less plastic burdens our planet.
Plastic pollution can be reduced by everyone. Here are some inspirations:
